The name Las Vegas was taken by the Spanish Antonio Armijo who arrived there while still an old Spanish trail from Texas . Las Vegas is one of the largest cities in the United States . However, it has no major league team owned professional sports like the NFL (American football), the MLB (baseball), the NBA (basketball) and NHL (ice hockey). This feature can be explained by the fact that the leaders of major league experience some reluctance to live a professional franchise with this “game world” and bookmakers.
The city is home to a professional franchise of football indoors, the Las Vegas Gladiators playing in Arena Football League , they play in the Orleans Arena (9,500 seats) with the Las Vegas Wranglers are a team of ice hockey in the East Coast Hockey League .

Many hotels in the Strip also include venues used for concerts, shows magic numbers and other productions such as Cirque du Soleil .
